„Intercultural Communication for International Students“
„Intercultural Communication for International Students“
Students from various countries are enrolled as Master- or Ph.D. students at German universities. On the one hand they have to cope with the German language and culture and at the same time they have to find out how to communicate with their international fellow students in their study programmes. The common language is almost always English, but body language, when to pause and how to be polite are behaviours that we take from our first language and culture. This can lead to misunderstandings or even prejudices.
This seminar will show how communication is coined by culture. It will also help participants to realize how their own communication is influenced by their origin and native language.
The aim would be to enhance understanding between members of different cultural backgrounds and to get a better sense of intercultural communication.
This seminar will be held in English.
